Meet Blakely
“This is my story about how Jesus saved my life. Last year, I got really sick and I was in the hospital for 26 days. I had to get surgery and the doctors put an IV in my heart. Everyone was praying for me and I got a prayer blanket. My nurse gave me an American Girl doll and I named her Faith, because that is what I had. Everyone sent me videos telling me to feel better and my teachers and friends wore pink for me. Then Jesus healed me a lot. He used His power to make me better and I got to go home.”
In April of last year, Blakely fell very ill. For over a week, she battled an unknown sickness, the medics had no inclination as to what was wrong with this sweet girl. After days of enduring excruciating pain with no answers, the doctors discovered that she had osteomyelitis, or in other words, a severe bone infection. The infection had set itself up in her rib, and because it took so long to find, her condition had worsened. Within a few days, she fell into septic shock, forcing her little body to fight harder than it ever had. On top of this all, her lung had begun to fill with fluid and collapsed under all of the pressure. Her oxygen levels were low, she was struggling to breathe, and her health was quickly plummeting. Soon after, she underwent surgery to remove the infection, repair her lung, and drain as much fluid as possible. She had a picc line inserted to administer medication and a tube put in her lungs to continue draining the fluid build up. After 26 days in the hospital, she was healed and sent home. During this time, there was a village of people praying for Blakely. They prayed for a diagnosis, she received it. They prayed for peace and guidance for the family, they received it. They prayed for healed, and boy did she receive it. Although the journey was a scare for everyone around Blakely, she never once lost her faith. She kept on worshipping throughout it all and reminded everybody that God is indeed a Waymaker. Now, almost a year later, Blakely shares her testimony with anyone who will listen, maintains her childlike faith, and uses her story for the Glory of God.
